What to do next as a nation?
Since I have heard the news of the cruelness that has occurred at Peshawar. I was unsettled and could not sleep. Late at the evening I felt like requesting the Executive Committee of Pakistan Professional Wing of UAE a premium professional body here to allow to arrange a peaceful vigil here in Dubai. They stepped up and by next day ; we had approvals to conduct the same at the premises of the Consulate of Pakistan . By evening next day the word spread like fire and on Thursday we saw hundreds of people turning up to show solidarity with the victims of Peshawar and other acts of terrorism. We were joined by Mr. Javed Ahmed Ghamdi a prominent Islamic Scholar and Muslim theologian also joined us on this occasion and recited prayers for the departed.
He reminded us the instances in the History of Islam how Khuwarij uprisings were crushed by Hazrat Imam Ali A.S. He further narrated that how Quran has severely despised such acts of terrorism and how strict punishment should be enforced on the perpetrators of such heinous crimes against humanity within the norms of law. The crowd was charged and ended up chanting slogans in favor of Pakistan and against the Taliban menace.
As I met Mr. Javed Ahmed Ghamdi for a program recording a day later. Executions commenced and for the first time the civil society looked united against executions so much so demanded public executions. There were four questions doing round in my mind like every other Pakistani as follows :
– The menace of Talibanization and its view in Islam
– Public Executions in view of religion
– The ongoing Fitna stemming out of Laal Masjid and what should be its fate?
– What to do next as a nation?
After we were through of a spiritual and a thought provoking discussion about how as a nation we are bereft of self accountability and have become so much in a state of denial that we belief that everything which happens to us Pakistanis is a conspiracy.
The attached video link hopes that it helps answer the question today which we all have in mind in view of Islam and Quran from someone who himself almost became a victim of extremist thought in the past and lives in exile as he challenges the same thought we find today united as a nation against which .
As for me I know that my effort to stand shoulder with the victims is just a small drop in the ocean and I pray that I assist my people both mentally and physically at this time of need and I pray that Allah gives courage to our dear Pakistan Army to remain steadfast against this enemy and deliver us the victory with grace of God. I also wish that our politicians demonstrate unity and sanity and give the best opportunity for our Army to fight without any diversions and win us back the Pakistan of our Quaid e Azam. Pakistan Zindabad!
