Eid And Wistfull Innocent Eyes

Eid is a joyous occasion for all Muslims. Whatever cast, creed or social status they belong to they offer Prayer at the same mosque, under the same roof in front of their only Lord. After Eid prayer, starts the slaughtering of cow, goats and camels and this continues for three days.

Eid is a joyous occasion for all Muslims. Whatever cast, creed or social status they belong to they offer Prayer at the same mosque, under the same roof in front of their only Lord. After Eid prayer, starts the slaughtering of cow, goats and camels and this continues for three days.

People are seen much more generous and caring on Eid days as compared to normal days. Animals are sacrificed almost every next house where the family members are in haste of having meal of their sacrificed animal with family members.

Children from our families are depressed to see their beloved animals being sacrificed but what depresses them, gives poor children the hope that they will have meat this Eid. These destitute children gather in numbers to get good meal for their family on Eid moving door to door knowing the fact that there are cruel people too in this society. These helpless little flowers also have hearts in which they have desires, and desire of having a good meal might not bear any importance for us but some people spend their whole lives trying to struggle for a good meal. If you look deeply in the eyes of those helpless children or observe them for some time as I did while taking this picture I can actually feel the way they were looking wistfully at the meat of the slaughtered animal with disappointment on their face but the urge to get it for their family. They were sitting there for at least about three hours with childish innocence on their faces just for the sake of celebrating this happy occasion as the best one. Some of them don’t have slippers on their foot.

Karimbaksh, 8 year old was one of the child sitting there. He told me that we are 7 siblings and I’m the eldest one. His father’s body was paralyzed in an accident andhis mother works as a maid. Whatever money she earns is spent on his father’s ailment/medicine. His eyes went moist while narrating his story. As I kept hearing his story I felt really sorry but the moment I heard that that it will be his first time he will eat meat. The declaration really shook me. Eight years and no morsel of meat. I couldn’t even imagine it. I was speechless.

He was waiting for the last 8 years to have meat how dreadful is this in a society where we spent millions just to show off and deprived children like Karim get a chance once in 8 years to eat meat.
On the joyous occasion of Eid when we forget all our problems and smile is the only thing we have on our faces but it’s a moment of silence for all of us when necessitous children like karim Baksh and many other families are still striving to get  to feed their children. Many others KarimBakshs also exist in this society. The need of the hour is to make sure that we act upon the actual message and theme Of Eid that is Sacrifice. To sacrifice our happiness, our joys just to help the poor and needy people of the society because at the end of the day it’s not the millions you spent on  the sacrificed animal that reaches Allah, but solely its our intention towards his creations and humanity that will make us stand fearless in front of Allah.

According to poet:

Talab in ankhon ki bayaan kerti ha
Muflisi Eid ka bss intezaar kertee ha
dawaten apni hain in ghareboon ka haq
Isee esaar ka khud Eid bhi iqraar kerti ha
Khushi ki bat ha bss kerdo izhaar
Ali esaar o qurbaani yahi her bar kehti
