Like all Panmasalas, it is popular among the youth, but it seems to be much more addictive than its competitors in market. Its marketing campaign on social media has been so successful that those who are not fans of this presumed blessing are often trolled, threatened and abused. But its effects are not limited to social media and can be seen at every ‘khokha’ of town including the temporarily made but biggest of all ‘D’ khokha also known as ‘Azadi’ khokha now.
A special thing about #GoGoPanmasala is its popularity among women. This is a change from the usual trend as normally women stay away from Panmasalas. Therefore supporters of this Panmasala are also calling it ‘tabdeeli’ pan masala. Others claim that women who have no prior experience of eating panmasalas are naïve and are being fooled by the #GoGo company into believing that there are longterm benefits of this masala.
#GoGopanmasala though popular among masses, has a severe ownership crisis. Its perceived owner is the cricketers turned panmasala maker ‘Khan’ but rumors are that a ‘Sheikh’ saab which has worked in almost all other panmasala companies before is the real brain behind the launch. People claim that the perceived owner is finding it difficult to keep control over how the sales of this masala should be handled. Some also claim that the manufacturing process of the masala has also been hijacked by ‘Sheikh’ and another experienced masala maker ‘Qureshi”.
This panmasala is delicious and its buyers are adamant that it has given them a “Naya” taste but many of the ingredients of this masala are still a well hidden secret. Recently, President of the #GoGo Company defected from it, calling it unethical for the company to get its users addicted to the panmasala when it offers nothing new. He blamed that different hazardous, addictive ingredients were being used in #GoGoPanmasala which although make it delicious in short-term, can result in a cancer in long term.
But the popularity of this masala is such that the President of company has since been stopped on road corners by mobs, welcomed with abuses wherever he goes and being called dirty or ‘daghi’.
Like the public, media too is divided over the advantages and disadvantages of this #GoGopanmasala. Some anchors who speak highly of this masala while others are severely against it. Recently, the addicts of masala have started calling those against the masala as sold out anchors (lafafa journalists). Anchors have severely protested over the accusations.
It will be years before the longterm effects of this #GoGopanmasala are known but for now it has polarized the society, results in heated debated between its addicts and non addicts every now and then and has made life miserable of the government who is not sure how to deal with this mess.
