Political Parties Priorities leading to ignorance of IDPs
We are discussing Azadi march and Qadri’s inqlab nowadays BUT we are missing to give proper coverage to IDPs-HOW SAD.
When nation needs to focus on IDPs and Government has to focus on military operation Zarb-E-Azb, few political parties planning for Inqilab and Azadi March.
PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) has announced its Azadi march in Islamabad on 14th August, while PAT (Pakistan Awami Tehreek)has yet to announce its date for ‘Inqilab’. Analysts say that due to military operation ZarbeAzb, the terrorists might attack soft targets i.e. public sermons and huge gatherings. The political jalsas and rallies will provide easy targets to the terrorists. That is why the political parties’ supporters also want their leaders to cancel these jalsas. Such ADVENTURE at cost of people’s life can distract the national focus on fight against terrorism.
In the mean time, the ruling party PMLN is planning to hold an Independence Day rally at Islamabad’s D-Chowk on August 14. Information minister Pervaiz Rasheed said: “Before 1999 – when our government was toppled – D-Chowk used to be the traditional venue for the biggest function to commemorate August 14.” The move, on the other hand, puts the government on a collision course with PTI, which has already announced D-Chowk as the venue for its August 14 ‘tsunami march’ against alleged rigging in the 2013 elections.
These rallies won’t bring any fruit instead can create chaos. All political parties should focus on IDPs. IDPs have to stay in IDP camps till the army clears North Waziristan. Long term planning for IDPs is required as these 1 million people will have to be settled back to their homes.
Even media is giving more coverage to political parties’ rallies (going to be held next month) instead of giving coverage to IDPs. Even news channels talk show programs are about upcoming rallies. Media should give coverage to condition and problems faced by IDPs. There are hundreds of untold stories among IDPs that can reveal their dark days spent back in their home because of militants.
Instead of wasting money in public rallies, why don’t our political parties spend this finance on rehabilitation and settlement of IDPs? At this moment, we have to give final blow to terrorists and terrorism. We have to be UNITED and follow one way. Our politicians and political parties need to forget their political differences and let the nation focus on cause of helping IDPs.
We all should keep in mind the golden words: ‘UNITED WE STAND, DIVIDED WE FALL’.
