When Cibulkova lay down on the ground, after winning against Halep with two straight sets, she is not only showing her happiness but making position to hold Australian open trophy. She dropped her racket and put her hands on the face with full joy and become tennis queen of Slovakia.
She is just 24 years old. She started her career from ITF circuit and then her bright career start. She is the sign of aggression. She upset against the Venus William, the then number 1 tennis player, in Qatar Total Open in 2008. The upsets continue in her career and she defeated Maria Sharapova in French open quarter finals in 2009. She arranged to win her first WTA title in 2011 in Kremlin Cup she is the first to start her WTA titles from Kremlin cup. Then her furs went open and she won Mercury Insurance Open in 2012 and the Bank of the West Classic 2013.
Now, she started open her 2014 account by starting with WTA Brisbane. But the Australian Open brings successes in her vent. She defeated Schiavone, Voegele and Navaro in straight two sets. Then, she faced Maria Sharapova, The match was gone very aggressive, Initially Sharapova rolled through the first set by effective serving. But then Cibulkova came back strongly and built a lead of 5-0 and ended with 6-4 win. The third set was quite easily getting through by Cibulkova with 6-1 defeat. Although, Sharapova seems to be injured but the win was possible due to the energy put-in by Cibulkova and that’s why she went to Quarter final. Maria herself appreciate the Cibulkova’s game;
“I haven’t been playing the best tennis of this tournament, but I found ways to get through to the last two matches,” Sharapova said after Monday’s loss. “Tried to do that again today, but she played extremely well.”
In quarter final, she easily crushed the S. Halep (number 11) easily, she won against two straight sets with full of energy. The joy, courage and energy she showed in second set were marvelous. But, now she has to face number 5 Radwanska in semifinals. Radwanska is a very tough target to defeat for cibulkova, She defeated Azarenka almost easily with 6-1, 5-7, 6-0 and was enjoyed number 2 position in 2012.
At last, I think the Cibulkova’s game is lively and full of energy and entertain the audience. But, if you want glamour then definitely you look forward for Sharapova and Radwanska match.
