Corruption in the form of bribery is very common in Pakistan especially in government sector. Bribery can be in form of gifts, favours, promotion, funds for an institution or organisation, favourable contracts or trips and tickets to a place.
Many ways in which bribery can be done include,
- Pharmaceutical companies may bribe doctors to prescribe their medicine
- Politicians to favour after they win elections
- Corporate employees and businesspersons may bribe their client’s gifts in exchange of business.
- Sports person and board might get an offer in exchange of selection or contracts
- Match officials and umpires may receive gifts and favours.
- Bribe to tax officers.
Sometimes rupee 100 note works for a challan on streets and sometimes some of the traffic police officers accept the illegal ways while other is very strict about the rules and regulations.
Violation of rules for small crimes leads a person to go for bigger ones. If a person is seeking illegal ways whether it is for small purpose, he will take bigger steps in future to violate the rules.
Pakistan faces bribery during admissions in schools universities and colleges in the form of funds.
The amount of money varies as stated by employees or officers depending on their will to earn.
The good thing is there reside 1-2 out of 6-8 or maybe more honest in every government department but the sad part is that they are forced not to lead from the front or work on projects that can earn money to corrupt officers.
If we as citizens start speaking up against bribery there are huge chances of Pakistan to grow and develop and more people will desire to live in a developing country.
