Pakistan vanquish England in the 2nd Test Match

With a massive lead of 490 runs Pakistan were well and truly in full control of the 2nd Test against England. In Pakistan’s 2nd innings Misbah made 87, Younis Khan 118 and Asad Shafiq 79 to set a daunting task for England.

England set off to a poor start with the uncomfortable Moeen Ali out for just 1 run edging a wide ball off Imran Khan. An injured Cook went next for 10 when he top edged a sweep off the bowling of Yasir Shah, leaving the score at 19/2.

Bell and Root made a good partnership of 102 runs before Bell was out for 46 off Zulfiqar Babar’s bowling, by gloving a soft catch.

At the start of the final day Zulfiqar also obtained the crucial wicket of Root of an edge. Bairstow, Butler and Stokes followed soon after.

Broad and Adil Rashid did well to put on a partnership of 60 runs, showing some resistance. Before Broad was bowled by a fast, late inswinging yorker from Wahab Riaz. Surely a tribute delivery to coach Waqar Younis.

Adil Rashid and bowler Wood next put on an incredible 55 run partnership, causing extreme tension amongst Pakistani supporters worldwide.

England just had 11 overs to bat out for a monumental draw. In the 1st Test Pakistan managed to just about hold on for a draw, helping hugely by poor light. Here again we had a tense finish.

Adil Rashid resisted for 3 hours, he only had to last out 6 overs more but he holed out to Zulfiqar Babra at cover point, off the bowling of Yasir Shah.

England 312 all out, with Pakistan winning by 178 runs.

Spinners Yasir Shah finished on 87/4, and Zulfiqar Babar 53/3.

Pakistan maintain their undefeated Test series record in UAE, going up 1-0 against England with one Test to play.

Congratulations to Pakistan and England for yet another exciting Test match.

Man of the Match went to Wahab Riaz.

Third and final Test match starts on 1st November in Sharjah.
