Story Of Palestine

Series of battles were fought by British army corps as a part of their Jerusalem Operation against the Ottomans which brought them victory along with the control of Palestinian cities; Gaza Beersheba, Hareira, Sheria and Tel el Khuweilfe. After capturing the Jerusalem they established a very strategically strong forte field from north of Jerusalem to the east of Mount of Olives, another side to this was that in 1917 Arthur James Balfour wrote a letter to Baron Rothschild, who was then the head of the Jewish British community, I would really like to quote his lines here:

“His Majesty’s government view with favor the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavors to facilitate the achievement of this object”

This letter is known as the Balfour Declaration of 1917. In 1922 the League of Nations gave the British government the mandate to rule to Palestine, and it was when the massive Jewish immigration started. The west of the Jordan River was directly under the control of the British government till 1947 during their rule the poor Palestinians tried to stand up against the oppression of the British and the drastic increase in the Jewish immigration, but this Arab Revolt ended with brutality, bloodshed and killings by the British government. Of course it would have been suppressed anyway as it was against the solution which the British government had thought of Jewish question which was running all through the Europe and the only way to get rid of this anti-Semitism was through establishing a Jewish state.

After introducing Jews into Palestine the British government in 1947 gave up the mandate to rule. The tragic part came later, it was Palestinians country, it was their homeland and without their consent and against their will and their moral and political right, the United Nations General Assembly divided the Palestine in two parts; the Arab and the Jewish state. Completely ignoring the Arabs reaction and their rejection to this petition, in 1948 the Jews declared Israel as their independent sovereign state.

It was just the start, later that year Israel with the latest weapons carried on a war with Palestine, and over ran 15% more of the Palestinian territory than proposed by the Partition plan of UNGA. Israel forces captured the west bank and destroyed more than 70,000 Palestinians’ homes, 700,000 Palestinians were forced out of their homeland, and Israelis made check posts took that entire region under its custody. With the Palestinians clustered in the corner and Israeli forces all around the Palestine, the situation got even worse. The ruling authority of Palestine was transferred from Gaza to Cairo which was later dissolved and Gaza was handed over to the Egyptian military. The suffering didn’t end here.  In 1967 during the six day war Israel not only captured east of Jerusalem but also seized Gaza from the Egypt, which was the final 22% of Palestinian land and began building Israeli civilian settlements on Palestinian lands, eventually building over 200 settlements throughout the occupied territories, and settled over 450,000 Israeli civilians in them, displacing hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians from their own legally owned lands. Israel has violated 28 resolutions of the United Nations Security Council (which are legally binding on member-nations U.N. Charter, Article 25 (1945); a few sample resolutions – 54, 111, 233, 234, 236, 248, 250, 252, 256, 262, 267, 270, 280, 285, 298, 313, 316, 468, 476 etc but neither the U.N or International organizations or U.N.G.A or the world powers that played they vital role in snatching the land from helpless Palestinians never stood against the Israel’s inhumane activities.

However, these countries provided them with ammunition for the killing of innocent, bare handed civilians. During the first Intifada in an uprising Yathzak Rabin ordered the Israeli forces to break the bones of Palestinians who might carry a weapon against Israel and the local hospital reported to have 200 fracture patients on the first day.

Now a day’s Israeli PM Netanyahu just never forgets to mention that whatever Israel is doing is to protect its national integrity and its citizens and this statement he make while standing on the very land which they snatched from Palestinians, the land where Palestinian blood is spilled defending bare handed civilians. Different standards though. Israel which accuses Hamas for killing its citizens during the June 2014 conflict and according to Israel its rocket fires were as a reaction to what Hamas started but it comes out that only 66 of Israelis were killed and 95% of them were military however almost two thousand Palestinians were killed and almost all of them were civilians including a large number of children. Now Hamas (A Sunni Islamic Organization) which according to Israel is a terrorist organization isn’t even recognized as a terrorist organization by the world’s most influential countries including China, Russia, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia and various other gulf states.

You captured their homeland, killed their families, and took their children away from them and still you expect them not to stand up for their basic rights. All what Hamas or any other civilian demands is the reinstatement of the 1967’s Palestinian boundaries as they were passed by the U.N.G.A and instead of following the orders of the United Nation General Assembly you fire rockets, attack the United Nation’s schools for children, you violate international law which clearly states that occupying force is responsible for protecting the rights of civilians on the contrary you target them, you kill them, you violate the Geneva Convention IV, Articles 45, 46 & 49 (1949),  forbidding civilian populations the right to return to their homes following the end of armed conflict, isn’t that open brutality, restricting the people their right to live. I just wish that all these international organizations and assemblies were true to their words; and were true in making this world a platform of justice, not only for the rich and the powerful but for the weaker ones as well.
