Elizabeth! – (A Poem on Christian Minorities)
Elizabeth presses my clothes
She puts my clothes on ropes
She washes my uniform…
Each day she gives me hope
She asks me for three hangers
For the clothes I have to wear
While I’m settling down my hair
Each week for Jumma prayers!
When I wear Shalwar Kameez
I find them knife-edge creased
My faith-in-half is neat…
So blessed are her deeds!
My other side of faith
Is a Muslim, all I see
As a Christian, she does knock
The Jesus out of me!
She has a great character
She prays for me as well
She’s punctual in her duty
She’s needy; she won’t tell!
Elizbeth goes to Church
Where all her tears converge
The truth of life in Search
Of God, are put in words!
We are same yet we are different!
She’s black, I’m white; I think
Deep down, I know as well
She’s satisfied in her skin!
Our never-concerned authorities
Should learn to save minorities
They clean-up our society
They’re saying NO to poverty!
Twin blasts on Lahore Churches
Can be so easily condemned,
It’s a daily routine process,
Intending to pretend!
We shouldn’t forget our basics
Kill one; that’s whole humanity!
For the love of God, that’s holy
This isn’t us but insanity!
