‘Na Maloom Afraad’ starts and you know that you have to stop laughing at the witty dialogues, skillful acting and a gripping story line till the movie ends.
In a country which all its movie talent evaporated into thin air and movie makers making commercial Punjabi crap, Pakistan’s Nabeel Qureshi has given cine goers a real cinematic relief and a movie which can be aptly called a hope of revival of cinema in Pakistan and this is no compliment……
Why? Well, after watching the movie in a jam packed cinema I can say that the movie is a well crafted and well executed project.
THE PLOT
Produced by Fizza Ali Meerza and Mehdi Ali , the movie which tell the tale of three losers, Farhan (Fahad Mustafa), Shakeel Bhai (Javed Sheikh) and Moon (Mohsin Abbas Haider) planning to get into money by benefiting from ever happening strike in the metropolis end up messing with a same villain Gogi (Salman Shahid).
While the female lead Naina (Urwa Hocane) is wasted, she still looks the typical desi girl. On the other hand, Hina (Kubra Khan) does a small but meaningful character with convincing display of her acting skills in the small part.
The plot is not only strong but the timely twists and turns along with the wittiest dialogues any Pakistani or Indian movie has to offer till today will keep you glued to your seats.
While all the leading actors played their roles well, it is the supporting cast which made me write about casting- a department most of the Paki movie makers ignore.
The Casting
Well, the trio plans their first act of benefiting from hooliganism and you are awed by how the makers worked hard on casting.
The drug-addict, who tells them the procedure to make a petrol bomb, steals the show in that one scene. Thanks to the strong casting, the guy is Salim Mairaj, stage veteran.
The second guy who does a cameo and puts a lot of weight in just a cameo appearance is PTV veteran Nayyar Ejaz, playing the part of senior insurance agent Samuel.
Both Nayyar and Salim Mairaj’s selection showed the makers cared about and worked hard on each scene they shot.
The Dialogues
What makes NMA a complete winner is the pack of witty dialogues from almost all characters. Moon after listening to Hina’s heartening speech says “Aap ko to morning show krna chahye” …. LoLz. While Shakeel Bhai after hearing Moon’s advice of selling his kidneys replies “Mere Gurdon pe Nazar Mt dalna, wo mene Behn ki shadi kay liye rkhe hen…” While Fahad Mustafa’s Farhan calls the drug-addict cum bomb maker “Qadeer Bhai” and Gogi’s “ Maut, Gogi or Tatti kabhi bhi asakte hen” are a few examples out of a movie which has a whole package of hilarious dialogues better than the Mehwish Hayat’s Item song.
Verdict: From slapstick to sarcastic humor and a plot which never fails to inspire, Na Maloom Afraad has all the Pakistani movie buffs heads held high.
While Bollywood is making crap Tamil remakes, Nabil Qureshi has done some amazing work with the reel to inspire future filmmakers in the country.
RATING: 4/5 – A Must Watch
