WAAR: Expectations from the film

Lollywood is being headed for revival in Pakistan. Films like Khuda Kay Liye, Chambaili, BOL have proved that our directors can make films and documentary that can set a tone and inspire the future film makers.

WAAR is the most anticipated film to release this year. The plot revolves around a security force trying to avert a terrorist attack. Inspired by true events after 9/11, the flick also shows how Pakistan is affected by the security situation of the country. Waar will be the first film of Pakistan, dedicated to the security forces battling the security threats of the country.

I’m expecting a lot of positives from this film. When I saw the trailer, I was pretty impressed that the film is gonna be something huge this year. It uses attack helicopters, live ammunition rounds, security forces and action packed trailer that will really take the industry to a new level.

The film is going to be released by  ARY Films, Mandviwalla Entertainment and ISPR (Inter Services Public Relations). ARY Films has indeed made a solid mark in the film industry with the recent success of Main Hoon Shahid Afridi and the upcoming Zinda Bhaag, which is going to be the first Pakistani film going to be nominated in foreign film category in the Oscars in 50 years.

The cast of the film is intriguing also. Shaan will play the central character (again) and will be accompanied with other stars such as Aisha Khan, Shamoon Abbasi. Ali Azmat and Misha Shafi will also star in the film. I’m particularly interested in seeing Ali Azmat in the film because, my interpretation of the teaser,  he may be playing a dual role in the film.

Bilal Lashari has directed the film. Lashari is a genius when it comes to directing music videos. He has directed the videos such as Shor Macha by EP, Hungami Halaat by Atif Aslam. He has also won awards for his works. I won’t be surprised if he wins international fame because he has done a really good job so far.

WAAR will definitely make a mark in the film. Lets see how the film turns out as the trailer has been made really good. *Fingers crossed*
