Three political geniuses

In this current political dynamism, when Imran Khan & Tahir Ul Qadri are leading separate (until now) marches towards Islamabad, the minute respect I had for three political icons heightened a great deal. The three political geniuses I am mentioning are:
1) Siraj Ul Haq
2)Asif Ali zardari
3)Altaf Hussain.

You must be surprised to know that I named these political leaders who actually do not have a direct or major role in the current fiasco. Yet these three impressed me a great deal and surprisingly, not because of their contribution in this political vitality, but because of the history and past record of their political parties.

Siraj Ul Haq, the newly elected Emir of Pakistan’s first and highly significant right wing democratic party, has shown a considerable deal of sensibility and wisdom. Instead of recapping the provocative, at times completely out of context, statements by the preceding Emir, Syed Munawwar Hassan, the fresh responsibility bearing shoulders have indeed shown maturity and responsibility. He did not indulge into the controversies such as whether Punjab policemen should be called martyrs or veterans. He kept his view straight, and acted as a wise facilitator to try and resolve the issues between the two opposing sides, PTI & PML-N. His serious and commendable efforts in bridging the gap between the government and the opposition must be acknowledged, appreciated and admired.

No doubt Siraj Ul Haq, instead of cursing the darkness, tried fixing the lamp, and restored Jamaat-e-Islami’s reputation in the sight of the nation.

And now, let’s talk about the renowned “political genius” , the famous Asif Ali Zardaari. former president of Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Although there was a time in his tenure when people were against him, opposed him with such zeal that there were hundreds of social media pages whose sole purpose was to explicitly abuse him. I often used to wonder, why isn’t any Political party coming forward and asking for Mid Term elections?
But now I realize, it wasn’t some Tom, Dick or Harry running the state affairs then, it was this Mr. Zardari. He is well aware how to deal with every ‘Inquilaab’ and ‘Inquilaabi’. The way he dealt “Allaama Sheikh Ul Islaam Tahir Ul Qaadri” was definitely some stroke of genius. Comparing it with how the PML-N government is handling the situation, makes me regard him even more.

On the eve of 11 May 2013, Chief election commissioner Fakhruddin G Ibrahim gave a statement regarding the rigging in the urban areas of Sindh. We all know what “urban” Sindh means. This act of chief election commissioner himself confessing that he could not manage the violent rigging in Karachi and other ‘urban’ areas of Sindh was much more than just proof. Many political parties boycotted the elections in Karachi. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf organized protests and sit-ins at Teen Talwaar for days. But now, who talks about Karachi? Nobody. And that’s undoubtedly because of our third political genius; Mr. Altaf Hussain.

While watching the footage of Gujranwala incident on TV, I remembered 12 may 2007, A Black day in history of Karachi. Everybody knew the culprits, but no one could dare name them. This is something PML-N workers and leaders should learn from MQM; to be the culprits, show up in the footage red handed, but still, nobody would have the guts to raise a finger towards ‘Bhai’.

Anyhow, whatever is the outcome of this political crisis? One thing is for sure that Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri have established that you cannot just get away with 14 lives and rigging allegations. If you think you are here for five years without any accountability then sorry, but “in your dreams” sir.
