An Open Letter to All the Feminists

She’s strong, fearless, passionate, funny, fiercely independent, very talented, brave, caring, loving, complex, delicate, emotional, nurturing, inspirational, and I can keep on going, but most importantly, she’s beautiful. She’s a great daughter, a great sister, a great wife and housewife and a great mother.

But then why is it so that she thinks she has to prove that she’s great.

Why is it so that thinks she has to fight for her rights? This is because of feminism is going too far.

Feminism has gone so far that now it’s creating gender differences instead of gender equality.

Women don’t realize that they don’t need feminism.

Why am I saying that being a girl? Because I believe that I don’t need feminism. I don’t need feminism because it is a movement full of hypocrisy and hate.

Feminists only see what they want and the use of logic and critical thinking with them is useless. I don’t need feminism because i can empower myself and I don’t need a man or anyone else to empower me.

I don’t need feminism because i believe that equality and fair treatment is not gender specific. I don’t need feminism because I don’t understand how staying at home, waking up late and doing whatever i want to do according to my own timings and will is some kind of “OPPRESSION”, but waking up early in the morning, cursing your alarm clock, and having to succumb to the demands of an employer 5 days a week, or even more, is some kind of “LIBERATION”.

I don’t need feminism because I believe in the fact that men and women are physiologically and psychologically different and that both the genders need each other and have some strengths and weaknesses.

And lastly, I don’t need feminism because the feminists tell me that I’m weak, vulnerable and a victim and that if i want to be successful, I have to act like a man.

Whereas the men in my life tell me that I’m strong, respectful and admirable.

Feminism was used as another word for equality of both men and women. But people have forgotten the real definition of feminism i.e. the belief that men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. The origin of feminism can be traced back to France when in 1837, Charles Fourier, a French philosopher coined the word and by 1910, feminism had appeared in most of the countries in Europe and in US.

These feminist movements that spread across were triggered by different causes and were aimed at different goals in many of these countries.

In the early stage, the feminist movements started with the focus on the rights of women to enter contractual agreements, agitation for equality within marriage union, parenting rights and the rights to own property.

The next stage focused on the rights of women to gain political power and at the moment, feminist movements will stop at nothing short of complete freedom for the womenfolk in all ramifications.

The feminist campaigns started with genuine reasons and were meant to solve issues that were strongly prevailing in the countries.

Now those issues have almost faded but the concept of feminism still prevails.

When I was younger, I considered myself as a feminist and it seemed less complicated to me. But with time I realized that this word has become synonymous to hating menfolk.

My life is a sheer privilege because my parents didn’t love me less because i was a daughter, my school didn’t limit me, my teachers or anyone else didn’t think that i would go less far because i will become a wife and a mother someday. I believe that the problem is in our heads.

It’s we who thinks that we are victims and that we don’t have rights and that we are being oppressed.

WE ARE WHO WE DEFINE OURSELVES TO BE AND NOT HOW OTHERS DEFINE US.

As i write these words and as a feminist reads this, he/she will hate me. But why? Why that hates or irritation towards an anti-feminist? Because this movement has gone too far and it is now creating hatred.
