I voted for PTI and here is what I think about their governance!
I proudly voted for PTI government during general elections 2018.
The reason could never be any other but Imran Khan himself. He was the person who actually awakened people and it won’t be wrong to say that he brought revolution in the country.
The turnout for voting last year was amazing and it was after many many years. He stimulated hope in people.
Now nine months have passed and PTI being in government is trying its best to deliver.
Why trying to? It is because after a long time, Pakistan has got a charismatic leader who is fearless and has no corruption charges proved against him but the system is hugely corrupted.
When a system is brutally corrupted and has red tape, it becomes difficult to change that. It might not be wrong to say that Imran Khan has filled the leadership gap which was there for few decades.
Now if you are relying too much on television or newspapers then this piece of writing might baffle you. No one knows why media is highlighting the losses only and why not giving limelight to the gains and glory.
Let’s take a look at the gains of PTI government:
1. IMPROVEMENT IN CORRUPTION INDEX:
Pakistan has improved its statistics in corruption since PTI gained power. Pakistan jumped at 116th number from 175th number. I think everyone knows who gets the credit for this.
2. PIA REACHES BREAK-EVEN IN OPERATING PROFIT:
PIA has claimed that it has come of out of losses at the operational level after quite a long time as its revenues have slightly exceeded the operating cost.
3. IMPROVEMENT IN CRIME INDEX
Karachi which has been suffering from crimes has finally improved its statistics. Its crime ration has fell from 6th to 70th in World crime ratio. The law and order situation has vastly improved.
4. PAKISTAN CITIZEN PORTAL
Pakistan Citizen Portal is an integrated citizen’s grievance redressal system connecting all government organizations both at federal and provincial levels. The system serves as carrier of complaints to their respective offices across all over Pakistan. Eventually, the citizen feedback gets linked to an officer’s performance and promotion. The App serves as complementary channel between citizen and government. Have you ever come across any such thing during previous governments? Of course not.
5. PM IMRAN’S COMPLAINT CELL
The complaint cell has been established to have a direct link with the public and to listen to their grievances and address them.
6. RECOVERY OF LAND:
87,000 kanal land has been recovered from land mafia. Why all this didn’t happen during previous governments?
7. 10 BILLION TREE PROJECT:
The project has laid the foundations for the “10 Billion Tree Tsunami” which PM Imran Khan launched across the country. The idea of a green awakening seems to be taking root. This project is expected to make enemies, especially powerful individuals and groups that have appropriated large tracts of government land for years. But the concept appeals to a new generation of better-educated Pakistanis.
8. TOURISM INDUSTRY:
With PTI government in place, Pakistan tourism industry gets a big boost as many foreign groups, jeep safari and tour operators from different countries expressed their interests in tourist attractions and sites in Pakistan. Minister of Tourism himself asked the Vloggers to promote Pakistan tourism. This would definitely help the country’s economy to flourish and promote soft power of Pakistan.
9. TRAFFIC RULES IMPLEMENTATION:
Violation of traffic rules and the sever traffic in Punjab has been the issue of concern. PTI Government has announced that no relaxation will be given to the personals who will not follow the traffic rules and regulations. Meanwhile, Government has increased the challan fees almost three times of the previous one.
Also City Traffic Police Lahore has also started E-Challans in the city. Though it need to be implemented in the whole country.
10. NO RELIEF IF NO PERFORMANCE:
One needs to admit that this was something totally absent during previous tenures. PTI literally kicked out all ministers who were not performing up to the mark unlike the history.
11. DAM FUND
Finally we got a government who is thinking to build something important for survival. Yes! Pakistan has reserve for 30 days of water only. PM dam fund has been established to donate for dams so that Pakistan can come out of water crisis. Not to forget that Pakistan in one of the water stricken countries in the world.
12. ASSETS RECOVERY UNIT:
The government has signed a bilateral treaty for exchange of information between Pakistan and Switzerland, which would make it easier to identify hidden assets overseas. Isn’t this something horrifying for previous governments?
13. HEALTH CARD EXPANSION ON FEDERAL LEVEL
The health ministry and State life signed a landmark contract for provision of Sehat Insaf card to 15 million families. It is estimated that as many as 15 million families living in Pakistan below the poverty line would benefit from the scheme.
14. AUSTERITY DRIVE
The austerity drive has definitely accentuated on the extravagant spendings of the previous governments. Imran Khan rightfully pointed out that our leaders were making unnecessary expenses on foreign tours. Same was the case with using vehicles for security concerns.
15. REFORMS IN POSTAL SERVICES:
The Ministry of Postal Services has started work on Postal Reforms Agenda and so far 47 post offices have been re-branded and up-graded. Since the postal services always go ignored in Pakistan, reforms for post offices now will pave the way to facilitate the poor and innocent people in the country at cheap rates.
16. HANDLING INDIA-PAKISTAN CRISIS
Prime Minister Imran Khan’s deft handling of the grave crisis stemming from India’s cross-border attack inside Pakistani territory has won praise from politicians, analysts, writers, opinion makers and journalists from around the world. PM Khan’s peace gesture in releasing the captive Indian pilot has been welcomed by UN Secretary-General and nations around the world as an important step to de-escalate the heightened tensions between the two South Asian neighbours.
Well these were some gains of PTI government. I am sure there would be many other as well but I have tried to bunch up my favourites maybe.
Why I haven’t mentioned the losses just because media is there to update you regarding them every single minute.
I totally agree that there is always a room for improvement but let us give some time to this government who is trying to boost this country’s image and economy.
Think how this government started with zero rupee in national treasure. Think how this government is working on projects i.e. health, education, dams which would have far reaching positive effects though they would take time unlike previous governments who invested in short term projects i-e roads and motorways just to gain popular vote bank from people.
There is no magic wand and the promise of change would take time.
