Naya Pakistan requires a united nation
Newspaper, blogs, Facebook memes, you name it and its there. What am I talking about? Well that shouldn’t be a mystery. Imran and Reham Khan’s wedding news has driven people crazy. Literally. Realizing that the Dharna had to be wrapped up due to the treacherous Peshawar attack, it seems that the media has nothing else to report. The anchors doesn’t seem to get enough ‘gossip’, and lets just not talk about social media here.
Pakistan as a state is yet in another one of its crucial stages, with the events that took place post-elections and now when we are having APCs. We see some progress but the question is that have we as a nation recovered from the Peshawar school attack? Where over a hundred innocent children were brutally massacred by the ‘terrorists’? Taking down profile pictures or tweeting about it might have given closure to many but that doesn’t mean that it’s over. This is probably the longest winter break that I as a student has ever had and to be honest I certainly am not enjoying it. With many higher education institutes closed without further notice I think that we need to unite as a nation rather than arguing whether Imran made the right choice for a wife. Sixty-two year old Imran Khan might have hurried into this matter but we need to realize that he did not make any such announcement due to probably one of the biggest tragedies in history.
So, instead of harassing Reham Khan and infiltrating her private space, how about doing something that actually matters? I personally believe that Imran khan’s decision of marriage was an untimely one. He had ten years after his divorce with Jemima. However, my question is that is this the right time to have this debate? Definitely not!
With all due to respect this nation will not go anywhere if we as a nation start believing that juicy gossip sessions on News channels and social media are more important rather than addressing the actual issues.
