Marriage Can Wait But Education Cannot
“You educate a man; you educate a man. You educate a woman; you educate a generation”
We all must have listened to this quote several times before, but still we are failed to take any idea out of it. Education plays a vital role in developing human capital in any society, but woman education plays a vital role in the progress of the society. But there are many problems in Pakistan due to which the issues of woman education are not given much importance. Some parts of Southern Pakistan and many other regions have fully banned female education.
One of the biggest reasons behind this situation is the increase of child marriages. In Pukhtun society this culture is rising very fast, which result in the stop of woman education. The little girls are expected to deal with in laws and do household errands. According to me this is not the justice with those girls whose ages are not more than 14 or 16. The age when you have freedom to enjoy your life, these girls are bound to live their life according to others. And when they are fail to do so they are ill-treated by their in-laws, while it was no surprise when girls sent back to their [parents’] house. But in some cases they are set to fire. This culture is building up an alarming situation in Pakistan which needs to be stop immediately. The report found that while gender-based violence is a global epidemic, affecting women across all regions of the world, the situation is more precarious in areas where there are significant obstacles to women’s access to higher education. . We need to understand that by exposing two or three cases of child marriages we cannot bring this rising culture to an end. We want government to take a strong step against it.
Other biggest reason is “Inferiority” man thinks that woman is inferior then him so she has no right of education. But they are fail to understand that woman brought him into this world and therefore he has no right to disrespect one. Men think that they are made for cooking, cleaning and doing all household errands. Which in real is not true at all? Women should understand their inner power. They have to understand the dignity of womanhood.
Do not appeal, do not grovel and do not beg. Take courage and stand tall. You are strong, beautiful, and compassionate and much more than words could ever say. Today is yours and so is every other day. Stand tall for your rights with a brave face and just empower yourself through education.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which can use to change the world”
Nelson Mandela
That is what in real we want for our country, if we want a change, start educating your women. It is because marriages can wait but education cannot!!!!
“No nation can rise to the height of glory unless your women are side by side with you. We are victims of evil customs. It is a crime against humanity that our women are shut up within the four walls of the houses as prisoners. There is no sanction anywhere for the deplorable condition in which our women have to live.”
