What a perfectionist: Aamir Khan
2013 has been a year of hit Bollywood movies like ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ ‘Chennai Express’ ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram Leela’ and many more but the new one joining the lot is ‘Dhoom 3’. Vijay Krishna Acharya who has directed ‘Dhoom 3’ and the first two movies of the Dhoom franchise also. With Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra as the leads ‘Dhoom 3’ has become a blockbuster. Abhishek and Uday have been in the movie since the first part with the rest of the cast kept changing. The men in the movie are no less than superheroes; they speed across freeways, climb down skyscrapers, perform acrobats and what not. The men continue this movie with their huge muscles, hot wheels and loaded weapons.
The new movie has a scenario of a circus and everything revolves around it. The Dhoom franchise has always been the game of cops and thieves which continues its tradition in this movie as well. But these movies always have a storyline that attracts the viewers and wish to watch it again and again. What keep one entangled are the high-octane stunts, high speed chases and dazzling action sequences highlighted by a famous star cast. The credit to all this goes to the producers Yash Raj for making the director’s extravagant vision comes alive on the screen.
The story is about a thief Sahir (Aamir Khan) who steals from a particular bank all the time. The police team Ali (Uday Chopra) and ACP Jai Dixit (Abhishek Bachchan) try to catch the thief. Katrina Kaif (Aaliya) is an acrobat dancer in the Indian Circus which is owned by Sahir. She hardly has a role of 45 minutes in the movie but her appearance was very important or else the movie would have been very dull and dry. The movie was revealed by a suspense which was much unexpected. By one of the viewers it was said that if a Bollywood actor wants to get famous so it’s preferred that he does the role of a hinder. From the past experience of Shah Rukh Khan in ‘My Name is Khan’ Hrithik Roshan in ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ and now Aamir Khan in ‘Dhoom 3’.
From the beginning till the end Aamir Khan made the movie go perfect with his acting, looks, dialogue delivery and the stunts. But in the entire movie it was not shown that how does Sahir steal it only showed the conclusion which was incomplete. The stunts were unbelievable which were seen in Hollywood and now in Bollywood. Abishek Bachchan has broken his shell and has done better acting than the previous two chapters. Uday Chopra should polish his acting skills although he maintains his role but yet he is not liked on the screen. As far as Katrina is concerned she didn’t have any acting in the movie but her dancing has improved. From ‘Kamli’ to ‘Malang’ and ‘Dhoom Machaale’ she managed to take the attention on the screen and after the movie the audiences still adore her for the songs.
The best part is, there's no bond or connection with the earlier ‘Dhoom’ instalments. Those who haven’t watched the previous parts they don’t need to worry because they are not linked. Although all the parts have the similar plot and story but yet this one was more modernized. The screenplay does a great job of upping the thrill share. A significant contribution to the ‘Dhoom’ series has been by the action choreographer and the fights, thrills, chases and stunts.
In ‘Dhoom 3’ Pritam's musical score captures the mood of the film well while 'Dhoom Machaale' continues to feature in this film too, 'Malang', 'Kamli' and 'Dhoom Tap' stand out as well. The choreography of 'Malang', besides the spectacular and extravagant production design, is amazing. The songs were a hit long before the movie was released.
On the whole, ‘Dhoom 3’ is a good watch but don’t compare it to the Hollywood level as some of the scenes were not acceptable. Like the bike turning into different means of transportation, well, that is how they wanted it to be. It is a solid entertainer loaded with attitude and star power that will leave fans shocked. ‘Dhoom 2’ was a better watch but still watch it for Aaamir and his perfection with Katrina and for her dancing skills.
