THE DAY OF BHUTTO ZARDARI

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stunned everyone. The flow, style and his tune turned the tide and changed the thinking of many political gurus who didn’t expect this type of piece from him. He was consistent in his words and fluent in Urdu. He showed emotions, involved audience with increased and decreased tone of voice. His body language was really energetic and he was confident in his style, especially when he was quoting that if the PML(N) does not stand against extremism then people will say “dekho dekho sher aya” he louded the same words chanted by PML(N) supporters but the style changed the whole meaning of the words.

In spite of the other political issues, the important part of his speech is related to the conditions he put-up in negotiating any deal with the TTP. He is probably the first leader to put in table the conditions to be presented by the government. I think government should consult to PPP about these conditions. Even though, the conditions are very idealistic but since TTP conditions on the other hand are impossible. So putting two impossibilities, we may come up with some possibilities between these two impossibilities. It’s noteworthy that throughout his entire address he was very clear and there were no ifs and buts in his speech.

Asif Ali Zardari on the other hand used sensible language. Discussed national issues and used conciliatory tune with PML(N) and Nawaz Sharif especially. But he expressed his opinion about Pervaiz Musharraf’s treason case and loudly support PML(N)’s government stance. Both the leaders are clear relating to the support of government in completing its tenure. That clearly separates PPPP from Dr. Tahir-ul-qadri and their alliances poilitics. Further, this stance also distinguishes them from the stance taken by PTI to harshly oppose the government. This is clearly in my opinion a mature stance taken by PPP and I think credit goes to Former President and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari. Well, despite what his opponents comment, he is a strong man who spent years in the jail and completed his tenure at a crucial period. He fought with terrorists and worked with the Army in difficult situations. He explored different foreign relationship avenues. He also stood against USA and blocked Nato supply.  His government had done few remarkable jobs including the handing over of Gawadar to China and signing of Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline. He also at many times taken his decisions back and faced the harsh court proceedings. These types of things are rarely seen in the democratic tenure of the Pakistan’s history. On other hand there were many mistakes especially the bad governance, which is always a problem of PPP government.

PPP represents masses and it will never drop back in Pakistan provided the name BHUTTO remains attached to them.  In future, I assume that Bilawal will become the Prime Minister and Asifa may hold important ministry. While, Asif Ali Zardari will again sits in the Presidency. So, I must say that the future is bright for PPP and “The day of Bhutto Zardari” is certain to come.
