Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year Santa “we don’t want sweets can you save us from drones “.
As Christmas and New Year are approaching.
Hi! “Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year , Namste !”Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year ” Assalamoalikum! “Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year “, WanaKam! “Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year ” Satsriakaal !”Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year”. It’s not the linguistic class. This is the greeting message on every person’s tongue in Europe regardless of their ethnicity or religious. The national fabric of a country is made of unity, discipline and tolerance for each other. Their traditions, rituals and most importantly equality and justice make them a nation. All of these ingredients are present in modern Europe. Preparations for Christmas starts well ahead .They start thinking what they will do? Where they will go? What will they eat? How they would like to be seen?. How this Christmas can be made memorable?
Yes , Christmas is not complete without children. Their excitement is on the peak to get a present of their own choice. Elders also join the juniors into there happiness. Children’s joyness doubles when they get gifts from Santa Claus. As soon as Christmas approaches the sales of stores doubles. Pre Christmas parties are arranged. On Boxing day all brands and superstores put their stuff on half price. There are long queues of customers outside the stores to fill there baskets with bargains. Everyone celebrating in spirit. This is peak time of the year. There is peace and happiness everywhere without any threat. Christmas trees are made. Turkey are cooked, shops and houses are decorated with lights and greeting messages. Spending time with family is the first priority for everyone. Crowds gather to celebrate New Year. New Year starts with fireworks, count down starts 1! 2! 3! Happy New Year.
This was the one side of the picture and lets have a look on the other side of the picture which is dark, tearful and sorrowful.
Now we are in Wazirastan , Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
For these little children every day is Christmas when there is no drone strike or bomb blast. Everyday when they wake up alive and see their family, the day is new year for them. Going school and getting education is not their priority. Children like Nabeela (Picture) craft fear. Where there is fear there is no productivity. Where there is fear there is no schooling. Where there is fear there is no entrepreneurship. Where there is a fear children craft fear instead of happiness. The most beloved thing for the parents is their kids and they don’t want them to be alone and hence, no schooling as it might be striked. For them Santa clause is an angle of life, the name of hope, who saves them from drones. When Santa goes to there homes to distribute gifts children say “Santa, we don’t want sweets, can you please save us from drones “?
Here my point is, on one side of the world children craft happiness and on the other children craft fear. Gentlemen, I do not know if drones kill terrorists. I do not know if they are counterproductive. I do not know if drone strikes are causing radicalisation in the society. What I do know is that children like Nabeela Rehman lives in fear. For them only hope is Santa the angle of life.
