The tale of leadership
It is an old myth which dates back to centuries that leaders are always born and are not made. It is presumed that it is in the genetic make-up of a leader, to lead; in the genes, there always exists a genome of leadership. As to be a leader, one must have certain core elements and supreme traits of leadership in their respective personalities and yet all the recent on-going studies have still not refuted this legendary thought.
It is my belief, however, that a leader can be made by effectively fusing the 2 Es’ – Education and Experience. Consider if two molecules of hydrogen are not bonded naturally with a molecule of oxygen, there would never have a single drop of water! Consider hydrogen to be the leadership traits (Education and Experience) while oxygen as a human subject, and through the advancement in Bio-engineering it is now possible to fuse the molecules and to have plenty of water. Therefore, by uniting and merging the 2 Es’ within an individual onecan formulate a leader and every person is a leader!
How we define a leader is someone who has a clear, broad-spectrum and practicable vision. It is a sine qua non for every leader. This charismatic trait tells a leader the prophecy on which direction one is supposed to move, so to achieve their objectives and goals. Also, a leader not only knows the destiny, and makes himself walk on it, but also shows the light to his followers throughout their way to accomplish their target and aim. It is due to the reason that before becoming a leader success was meant merely to oneself, but after wearing the diadem of command, one has to lift the souls of each partisan in order to attain the triumph of glory. Therefore, a true leader is the one who has both the capacity and the capability to translate the vision into reality.
According to Barbara Kellerman, Professor of Public Leadership at Harvard University, the everyday use of the words like leader and leadership have encountered with positive bias. This has led everyone to believe that a leader is a super being or a role model to whom the followers not only follow but also adore, idolize and worship. I believe that it is not necessary that every leader have an optimistic approach –they are not the perfect beings! If the “perception of perfection” with leaders persists, it will end up our scope of becoming a leader. Not only this, also history witnessed that some have achieved the highest of skies by putting their souls on the darker sides. Such power-hungry, mad-evil psychopaths inflict pain to obtain pleasure and to quench the thirst of reaching the heights of their success. Yet their despicable approach has made them successful because of their followers’ blind belief as a result of which they committed every possible disaster to destroy the humanity, hence became the most evil leaders of all times, like Hitler, Pol Pot and Vlan, the Imapler. Such leaders have portrayed the figure of a Satan from inferno, whose only intentions were to ruin the world by ruling the world, as according to them one death is merely a number and one million deaths is a statistic. Because of severe difficulty in the arena of their self-management, their narcissistic approach has eradicated the perception of “leaders are always perfect”.
Since leadership is not only honking the orders for the work to be done nor it is the display of power. In fact, it is a hybrid of using head and heart; in order to handle one, always use the head, while to handle others, use your heart, the emotions. The words of a leader are so influential and inspirational that they could move the mountains and lift the souls of followers.
Leaders that grasp and think once more at the failures, trials and inconveniences and have the courage to say, wouldn’t it be great if we could gain experience from it, don’t gave it a chance to happen again and continue making a headway and not abandon the mission, have the strongest and the most influential charisma to bring every element of the organization to touch the seventh sky. For such a leader Bible also say:
“Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God; consider the outcome of their way of life.” Book of Bible – Hebrews 13:7
In the end, I would say that the key role of a leader is not about how well to attain their goal, but how well one is able to manage the psyche of an individual that has been cling with the traditional approach and to bring them on the grounds of change and make that change legendary!
